A Women-Led Force for Hope & Resilience in South Sudan

The CHIFCID Christian Foundation is the umbrella brand name of the Child to Family Community Development (CHIFCOD) Organisation. In its 30th year of transformational educational services to the world, the CHIFCOD founding directors Dr. Hamlet and Mrs. Kellen Mbabazi have created the CHIFCOD Christian Foundation as the long-term title that encompasses all the works that CHIFOD has established and those that it will continue to establish upon a non-denominational Christian Foundation.

What CHIFCOD means by an ethos of Transformational Christian foundations.

CHIFCOD offers Christian foundations as its tested ethos for creating holistically empowered African citizens. Different stakeholders in human development today reflect diverse philosophies that CHIFCOD learns from, but CHIFCOD advances to add biblical spiritual, cultural and pedagogical value. Secular capitalism, for example focusses on enabling the individual to desire and competitively attain the best life that human science and technology have to offer; Humanitarian often donor driven education focuses on being a voice for the needy and applying global financial resources to ensure equitable educational access; African extended family generosity gives financial support to needy relatives who show vocational potential. There is a concerted effort to educate the population with different cultural emphases.

A Christian foundation starts with a determination to go beyond personal prosperity as emphasized by capitalism or economic relief but, but the transformation of all creation to the original state of which, “God looked at all that he handmade and it was very good.” (Genesis 1: 31). This transformational Christian foundation is quantified in God’s kingdom human transformation goals of King David, where he declares in Psalm 144:12-15.

“Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace, our barn will be filled with every kind of provision, our sheep will increase by thousands by tens of thousands, our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets. Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the Lord.”

Jesus further reiterates this holistic transformational ethos when he declared that the reason he laid down his life for the sheep under his care, was that the sheep (ourselves) could and would have life in abundance. (John10:10) A Christian education derived from these and from the entire bible message sets its target as holistic transformation of life in all its dimensions. It is not deterred from resiliently overcoming all the social, political or economic obstacles in place because we take our mandate and example from the authority and power that our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated and conveyed to his followers. Jesus demonstrated the overcoming of chronic human obstacles of poverty, disease, ignorance, injustice, economic dependency and materialism and CHFCOD follows his example.

The core vocational virtues that a Christian Foundation generates

Upon this foundation, Christian education as adapted by the CHIFCOD founders, aims to surmount the cultural segregation and nepotism that are typical of tribe and clan loyalties, as well as the material greed and commercial exploitation that drives secular capitalism. The teaching and example of Christ require synergies of scientific, spiritual, , moral and economic pedagogies that nurture in children, youths, families and leaders the qualities of: entdrepreneurial vision and scientific curiosity (Psalm 8: 1-12; Psalm139); innovative investment, and godly character development. (Proverbs 31: 10-31); economic independence, and resource multiplication (Matthew 17:27; 25: 14-30); Generosity and compassion (2 Cor 9:6-15) moral and ethical transformation (Luke 19-1-10); Modesty and eternal focus (Matthew16:26)

CHIFCOD History

Our History

The CHIFCOD Christian Foundation — formally the Child to Family Community Development (CHIFCOD) Organisation — was founded by Dr. Hamlet and Mrs. Kellen Mbabazi, whose vision for transformational education took root in the communities of western Uganda where they themselves received their earliest schooling. Now in its 30th year of service, CHIFCOD has grown from a single community school into a multi-campus educational foundation operating ten locations across western and central Uganda.

The journey began in 1994 with the founding of Kirima Parents' Primary School (KPPS) in Kanungu — one of the pioneer parents' schools in Kigezi that championed result-oriented education at a time when Uganda's government schools were overwhelmed by the surge of seven million pupils following the launch of Universal Primary Education in 1996. CHIFCOD's community-driven model of engaging parents and teachers proved transformational, and the approach was replicated with Nyamirama Parents' Primary School in 2000, Nyakabungo and Rutenga Parents' Primary Schools in 2003, and Great Lakes High School — the proud innovator of the I-LISTENS (Inter-disciplinary Livelihood-based Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship and Skill) innovation paradigm.

Beyond formal schooling, CHIFCOD established the Jungle Professor Innovators' World adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the Lake Edward Biodiversity Edu-tourism Hub at Rwenshama, and is set to open the Jungle Professor Rendezvous Africa Center in Kampala on Labour Day 2026. Today, thousands of CHIFCOD graduates serve across every sector of Uganda's economy, and the Foundation's mandate to nurture Analytical, Connected, Tough and Successful African citizens continues to expand across the continent.
